Wise's efforts not enough as Roanoke Rails defeats North Wake Fungo 7-6

Garret Wise picked up 3 hits but it was not enough as the North Wake Fungo fell to the Roanoke Rails 7-6. Saturday was a rough outing for Michael Mnich, but Roanoke Rails still managed to pull out a 7-6 victory over North Wake Fungo in seven innings at Kiwanis Field. Mnich allowed six in three, but the bullpen gave up no runs and the offense banged out seven to pick up the slack and secure the win for Roanoke Rails. North Wake Fungo was ahead early but it ultimately surrendered the lead for good. North Wake Fungo led until the sixth inning, but Roanoke Rails took the lead back on an RBI single by Brett Simmons. David Allen got the win in relief for Roanoke Rails. Allen pitched four innings and allowed no runs.
Matt Hobgood took the loss for North Wake Fungo. He lasted just one inning, walked three, struck out none, and allowed two runs. North Wake Fungo jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first. North Wake Fungo got things going when Garrett Wise singled. A single by Zach Cooper then moved Wise from first to second. North Wake Fungo added more runs when Cooper scored on a wild pitch and Hardee scored on an RBI single by Gabe Tippett. Roanoke Rails put up one run in each of the first, second and third. In the first, Roanoke Rails scored on an RBI single by Joe Yourgal, scoring Dean Hermanson.

Justin Dean went 2-4 and hit a home run as North Wake Fungo took home an 8-5 victory over Roanoke Rails in seven innings at Kiwanis Field on Saturday. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the seventh inning. Will Wheeler looked sharp on the mound. Roanoke Rails managed just one hit off of Wheeler, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his 4 2/3 innings of work.
Nic Ratliff racked up three RBIs on one hit for Roanoke Rails. He homered in the seventh inning. Ryan Brewer took the loss for Roanoke Rails. He allowed six runs in 4 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out one. North Wake Fungo never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring one run on a sacrifice fly by Vinny Bailey. North Wake Fungo brought home one run in the third inning, and matched that run total in the seventh. In the third, North Wake Fungo scored on an RBI single by Brad Mize, bringing home Caleb Coyle. North Wake Fungo tacked on another five runs in the fifth. The inning looked promising, as Derrick Dabney doubled, scoring Bailey and Coyle to kick things off. A five-run seventh inning helped bring Roanoke Rails within three. A two-run single by Brett Simmons and a three-run home run by Nic Ratliff fueled Roanoke Rails' comeback. North Wake Fungo closed the game out when Adam Riddle got Joe Yourgal to fly out.
